The CD opens with the first of these commissioned works is by composer André Previn. "Night Thoughts" honours internationally-acclaimed Sacramento painter Wayne Thiebaud. Two works on the CD are from the "Gold Mountain" project, a tribute to the Chinese who emigrated to the United Stages and contributed so much to its history and culture. Next is a concerto for guitar and orchestra by Gang Situ (with soloist Brandon Yip). The next selection is the "Chinese American Symphony" by Jon Jang with soloist Jiebing Chen, erhu. The CD closes with Ravel's "La Valse".
